Rocksteady / Boxov Records
2000
With this pleasantly-titled platter, Flipp again overshoots the mainstream via a
colorfully quirky collection of rock radio readies. Like their obvious 70's idols
(Gary Glitter, Sex Pistols), the members of Flipp are already stars, they just
lack the sales. This slipped disc is stronger throughout than their debut. The
confidence and verve behind "Rock Star ("Put the cock in your rock and you'll
make a lot of money."), "Ultra Cool," and "Oh Yeah" make the music
indistinguishable from the maker, an integral component in a great rock band.
Flipp harkens back to another time, when flash and bang mixed with tight
harmonies, and it's a trip worth taking.
