As the linear notes point out, the intensity of hammering hair metal cannot be understated, nor can it be denied on Heavy Metal Head-Bangin' Hits. This collection nails all the high points and ignores the Bic ballads that give hair a bad name. Winger's "Seventeen" kick-starts the festivities with twists, bumps, grinds and one of the coolest bridges in history thanks to the stupendous axercising of Reb Beach and the huffing and puffing of pretty boy Kip Winger. The rockin' Dokken fights the light in "Dream Warriors." Ratt goes "Round and Round," and Twisted Sister wants to rock. At this point, dear reader, you might rightfully protest, "I have each of these selections." True that may be, but then Motorhead instructs how to "Eat the Rich." The mother load Uriah Heep hits with "Stay on Top," and Shotgun Messiah keeps things interesting with a suicide beat on "Heartbreak Blvd." The D'Molls give a look at "My Life." (Ain't no high life, baby.) Faster Pussycat scratches "Poison Ivy," and White Lion's forgotten great "Little Fighter" finishes first. Heavy Metal Head-Bangin' Hits pulls out some fine hair, beyond the call for a budget CD. (The sound is sharp as well.)
